Massachusetts Medicaid MassHealth

The Massachusetts Medicaid Program Covers more than one million Massachusetts residents.
The MassHealth program provides comprehensive health insurance—or help in paying for private health insurance—to more than one million Massachusetts children, families, seniors, and people with disabilities.MassHealth offers a broad range of health-care services by paying for part or all of a MassHealth member’s health insurance, or paying medical providers for services given to MassHealth members.

MassHealth pays for health care for certain low- and medium-income people living in Massachusetts, including a program for individuals who are HIV positive. MassHealth also manages the Insurance Partnership for small businesses, the Children’s Medical Security Plan, Healthy Start, and the Special Kids/Special Care Pilot Program, cosponsored with the Department of Social Services.

Massachussetts Insurance Partnership (IP)
The Insurance Partnership makes health insurance more affordable for qualified small businesses and their employees.

Children’s Medical Security Plan (CMSP)
The Children’s Medical Security Plan (CMSP) is a health insurance program that provides uninsured (except MassHealth Limited) children and adolescents access to primary and preventive services, regardless of family income.

Healthy Start
The Healthy Start Program (HSP) promotes early, comprehensive, and continuous prenatal care for low-income, uninsured (except MassHealth Limited) pregnant women.

Special Kids/Special Care Pilot Program
The Special Kids/Special Care Pilot Program is designed to provide high-quality, cost-effective, coordinated medical care to children in foster care with special health-care needs.

Information about Commonwealth Care for Members and Providers
Information on the Commonwealth Care Health Insurance Program is a new program for uninsured adults that operated through the Connector Authority.
